Anastasia is a contemporary dance artist, currently based in Athens, Greece. She began her dance training in Greece and later continued her vocational dance studies in London, UK, at Kensington & Chelsea College and Lewisham College. In 2014, she graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance receiving a professional Postgraduate Diploma in Dance (Specialisation in Community Dance).
Anastasia is a founder of InMotus Dance combining her interest in dance education as a passionate teacher while being active in other professional activities as a performer and choreographer in other contexts including dance festivals, live arts and performance installations. Since 2010, she has been working extensively as a dance performer in various Site Specific based projects in collaboration with UK based choreographers. Upon her graduation, Anastasia has been pursuing her interest in choreography and dance composition by attending various choreographic laboratories and workshops in UK, Berlin (TanzFabrik), Paris (Menagerie de Verre), Spain (BIDE) and Greece (Kalamata International Dance Festival).
Anastasia has curated M.O.T.U.S; an interdisciplinary performance event at Stour Space Gallery, London in which she has also participated as choreographer presenting her own work. Her piece Mirrored|me has been performed as part of the Wandsworth Fringe Festival in 2018, at ImpFest Festival in 2017 and at ELEFEET Dance Festival at Blue Elephant Theatre in 2016 . Anastasia is interested in working interdisciplinary developing a creative dialogue through movement arising questions around the corporeal and the intellectual body. To create the spatial installation in her recent choreographic work she has collaborated with V.I.P.A (Viral Institute of Performing Architecture). Her previous choreographic works were presented in various platforms-festivals including the Arts Programme of London Science Festival at Limewharf Venue and the You Are Here Project in Tricycle Theatre.
As a dancer she has performed works by UK based choreographers such as Mathias Sperling (Walking Piece, at Big Dance Festival 2012), Rosemary Lee (Square Dances at Dance Umbrella 2011) and Luca Silvestrini (Crossroads at GDIF 2011). She has participated as performer in choreographic lab presentations at Kalamata International Dance Festival 2014 with Greek collaborative dance network Syndesmos Choroy (Amorphy Dance, Lemurius, Fora Dance, Prosxima Dance, Yelp, Zita Dance and Dalika Dance Company), at the Open night of BIDE (Barcelona International Dance Exhange, 2013) at Mercat de les flors and Graner Theatres and with Rosanna Irvine (Towards a Re- Activation of Javier Le Roy Project, 2012) at Siobhan Dance Studios.
Anastasia also performed pieces at Bonnie Bird Theatre at Trinity Laban Conservatoire by choreographer Gary Lambert, and Alison Curtis-Jones. She has performed at Lillian Baylis Studio at Saddlers Wells Theatre; dance pieces devised by Akosua Boakye and Akane Abe. She was member of the Scatter-The Adult Performance Company based at The Place where she performed works choreographed by Tory East (presented at Bloomsbury and Lift off Festival) and Mickael Marso Riviere. Alongside her dance projects she has also collaborated with multidisciplinary artists that created large scale installation performances. Among them is visual artist Eulalia Garcia Valls with her Sound work (My Warriors-2) presented at La Caza Elizalde Cultural space in Barcelona and her project (Hearing Voices) with the support of the Arts Centre Tarragona. Anastasia has also collaborated with the architect/designer Quynh Vantu that has created a performance for live audiences and the camera in Hedmark Cultural Museum in Norway, Ivana Muller in What Now Festival at Siobhan Davies Studios, Adam James (Mudhead Dance & Sanctuaries Project) in Jerwood Space Gallery and V22 Gallery, Christiana Kazakou (Displacing Indentity) in Central Saint Martin’s University, Emily Roysdon (I am a helicopter, camera, queen) in Tate Modern, Tracey Fahy (RAMPAGE Project) at London College of Communication.
Her own choreographic work constitutes an enquiry into the true relationship between authenticity and representation of human bodies in spaces through experiments and composition of dance material with the use of logic games and structured improvisation tasks. Influenced by her background studies in Contemporary Dance/Choreography and Sciences (Biology) she often extracts themes related to human nature, the space and its politics.
Anastasia holds a BSc Bachelor Degree in Biology (direction of Genetics, Molecular&Reproductive Biology) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki/Greece and Galileo Placement Certificate (L.L.P programme) for her Postgraduate Research (Bio-molecular & Genetics department) at Imperial College London.
