The piece is based on an authentic relationship of the performers to the space and the time they experience memories of their lives. The work was created in an attempt to understand and depict reflections of everyday existence through exposing socio-cultural live images of the performer’s life experiences. Kinonia in particular explores the different states of being in different spaces including the public, working, private, leisure space. It is a presentation of the personal and interpersonal relationships developed within these spaces.
Performers orientate and map their life pathway within certain moments and experience it in real time (as performers) but not in the real space (imaginary). Inspired by the idea of the Body without Organs by French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, the piece examines the place where the body feels desire and freedom vs limitation. Performers develop a collective consciousness, interacting with each other while becoming observes and listeners to their own experiences.
Kinonia incorporates recorded sounds of the performers own experiences and live voices to create a poetic representation of this reality involving movement vocabulary.
